Recycling Program 2013
HTC is excited to host the 2013 directory and cell phone-recycling program with the help of Wendy’s, Auntie Anne’s, Medieval Times, MyrtleBeachFamilyGolf.com, and the Horry County Solid Waste Authority. Our goal is to continue the joint effort to support area schools and the environment – both of which are crucial to the future of area children.
The theme for the campaign this year is RECYCLING 2013. The goal is for each partnering school in the area to collect a total of 2013 directories and cell phones. The project will begin Wednesday, March 20, 2013 and run through Friday, May 3, 2013. HTC will award 1st ($2,500 value), 2nd ($1,000 value) and 3rd place ($500 value) technology prizes based on two criteria: 1)the schools that recycle the most directories, and 2) the schools that recycle the most directories based on the number of students in the school. Technology prizes will include desktop computers, laptops, smartboards, iPads and more.
Each time a person recycles a directory and his/her donation is recorded at one of our nine office locations, that person will receive a rack card with coupons good for a FREE small FROSTY from Wendy’s, a FREE pretzel with the purchase of a pretzel from Auntie Anne’s, a FREE kid’s admission to Medieval Times, and a 50% off coupon for MyrtleBeachFamilyGolf.com! There is no limit to the number of rack cards a person can collect, so 20 recycled directories = 20 rack cards with the Wendy’s, Auntie Anne’s, Medieval Times and MyrtleBeachFamilyGolf.com coupons. Only one coupon can be used per visit to Wendy’s. In addition, the top three schools that recycle the most phone books will receive prizes for the top participating class including: 1) Wendy’s FREE Kid’s Meal coupons for the students and teachers in the top class of those schools, 2) prizes from Medieval Times!

In exchange for old cell phones, HTC will contribute money to the Horry County Schools fund for Homeless Students. For each old cell phone that is delivered to any HTC branch office location, HTC will donate a minimum of $1.00 to the fund for Homeless Students with Horry County Schools. All branch office locations will have drop boxes in the lobbies for customers recycling old cell phones. Please do not confuse the drop boxes for cell phone recycling with the boxes or bin for directory recycling.
Please note that HTC is also hosting a Green Fair on Thursday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the newest HTC office on Highway 501 in Conway. School groups are invited to attend and recycle directories and cell phones on that special day. Please let me know as soon as possible if a group from your school would like to visit since space is limited.
Thank you for your interest in the 2013 HTC RECYCLING campaign. This program is an excellent way to teach students about the benefits of recycling. In addition, it is a resourceful way for students to help their schools win new technology including desktop computers, laptops, smartboards and iPads, just to name a few. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Nicole Hyman, HTC Senior Marketing Coordinator, at 369-8498. HTC looks forward to working with area schools and businesses to make this a successful project for everyone involved.
